Diamante presents their 2008 production “Requiem of Angels” to Mozart’s arrangement, Requiem in D minor. The performers set the floor in a requiem, a gathering for the dead. As the bells begin, and their souls reach for the heavens, they set a calm mood to introduce an expansive range of movements and beautiful partnering. As the show develops with more intense and powerful music, intricate equipment choreography, and modern ballet lifts they take you on a journey through the ascension to heaven. With the final vocals, “Grant them eternal rest, lord, and shine perpetual light upon them”, they conclude the production with one final reach to the heavens; now a requiem of angels.

WGI WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

Hailing from Anaheim, California, Diamante (2nd Place, 96.30)exhibited strong dance training and use of breath from the opening moments of their “Requiem on Angels” production. But this is also an extremely proficient group of weapon spinners – from the first sabre toss (“in your face,” right across the front sideline) to a heart-stopping rifle/cartwheel partner ripple (culminating in a gorgeous lift/catch at the back right corner), this was clearly one of the weekend’s most exhilarating performances.

The standout group of Independent Open had to be Diamante from Montebello CA (1st Place- 90.10) with refined performers dressed in opulent gold; “Requiem of Angels” certainly showcases these invested performers. Their control of movement helps them attack the impressive choreography and the soundtrack enriches the program to a higher plane. It’s definitely a sophisticated take on a beautiful subject

Diamante from Montebello, CA (1st Place-84.40) conquered Independent Open Class with a highly demanding and successfully achieved program entitled “Requiem of Angels”. Beautifully costumed in gold, these fearless performers attempt just about every daring move one audience member could wish for. Elaborate writing, exciting tosses, sophisticated design and a constantly growing and evolving soundtrack help make these performers shine.
